His ideas were preserved by his student Arrian, who compiled Discourses and the famous manual of Stoic wisdom known as The Enchiridion (The Handbook). His philosophy centers on the belief that true happiness comes from mastering our own thoughts and actions, not external circumstances. Epictetus founded a school of philosophy in Nicopolis, Greece, where he taught until his death. He remains one of the most practical and influential thinkers in Stoicism.
