About Author

Aradhana Johri joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1980 and served in various parts of UP as well as Uttarakhand. She has held senior positions in Government in her assigned state and in Government of India, including that of Secretary. She belongs to an illustrious family of civil servants, her father Shri R.S. Johri being her senior in the IAS in the same cadre. She created a history of sorts when she served as District Magistrate in Nainital, a district in Uttarakhand, exactly 30 years after her father. A Post Graduate in History from Lucknow University she also holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University, USA. She is passionate about preserving India's heritage and culture, having already written a book on the cuisine of Awadh. Her abiding interest in history and Indian mythology, her love for nature, as well as a strong attachment to the beautiful state of Uttarakhand, are vividly reflected in this book, which is a documentation of a time when the Gods walked on earth.
