V?tsy?yana was an ancient Indian scholar best known as the author of the K?ma S?tra, a classical Sanskrit text on human relationships, love, and social life. He lived around the 3rd�4th century CE and followed a life of discipline and study, contrary to the common belief that his work promotes indulgence alone. V?tsy?yana presented k?ma (pleasure) as one of the four important goals of life, alongside dharma (duty), artha (wealth), and moksha (liberation). His work is valued not only for its discussion of intimacy but also for its insights into ancient Indian society, culture, and ethics.
